The creations
Working-class history, disability, the history of hip-hop, dialogue with live music: each creation by Compagnie Niya calls on sensitivity and humanity. Shows for all audiences, which can be accompanied by talks, workshops or an educational programme.
Danse & Toile
Compagnie Niya declares its love for live music. Four dancers move between the raw power of hip-hop and the finesse of contemporary writing, carried by the notes of pianist Tarik Salhi.
Gueules noires
A danced tribute to the miners of northern France. Rachid Hedli draws on working-class history, and on that of his father, a miner, to pass on through the body the collective memories of our heritage. Neither victims nor heroes.
Résurgences
When music becomes a playing partner, dance takes on another dimension. An organic piece where bodies resonate with music played live: unique at every performance.
Du Bronx aux JO
From a basketball court in the Bronx to the Olympic Games: demonstrations, stories, audience interaction and live performances to tell the history and codes of hip-hop.
Hand in Cap
“Will I ever walk again…” Jimmy Omoï tells of the body’s constraints through dance and reveals, with restraint, how an immobilised body that only longs to express itself confronts the world.
Entre Deux – Système D (working title)
The second part of Hand in Cap, about invisible disability: what others fail to see. Popping, with its sharp stops and muscular pulses, becomes the metaphor for a silent struggle.
